Link Finder keeps an eye on the web links in your Contact details, whether you added them with Link Finder or by hand. Each link shows one of three statuses.
What each status means
- Connected: the website or platform confirmed that the link opens, or that the account exists.
- Needs attention: there was a clear problem, such as a page that wasn’t found, a web address that can’t be found, an account the platform says doesn’t exist, a site that doesn’t open securely (https) or a link that keeps redirecting.
- Not checked: the link couldn’t be checked automatically. Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp don’t allow automatic checks, many Google and YouTube links can’t be checked, and sometimes a site doesn’t answer in time. This doesn’t mean the link is broken.
Check a link now
- Open the platform. In Link Finder, choose View next to it.
- Read the details. Each link shows its status, a short explanation and when it was last checked.
- Check again. Choose Check link, or Open link to see it yourself.
Links are also re-checked in the background, each at most once a week. The need attention count at the top of Link Finder shows how many links have a problem.
Fix a link that needs attention
Open the link to see what’s wrong. Then choose Edit in Contact details to correct or remove it, and add the right link again in Link Finder if needed.
